Important life lesson essay

One of the most important life lessons you can learn is cherishing your time with people. In a few years when you graduate and go to college, you leave all the people who mean so much to you to embark on a new adventure. You have to value every moment because you get to live life once so make it count. Life goes fast, don’t forget to look around once in a while.

When someone says, cherish your time with people, most think about their friends or family. Friends are the case for me. I play for the Cedar River Soccer Association with eighteen of my best friends. It’s hard to imagine a life where I am not playing soccer with these girls. They mean so much to me. If you met these girls, you would think that we wouldn’t like each other because we are all so different, but with us being so different we complement each other in ways that you wouldn’t think. This is why our team chemistry is so good. The way we play soccer with each other is different from any other team. Most of us have off days on the same day, but when we play well, we play well as a team.

I wouldn’t trade these girls for any other team, the memories we make are the best kinds of memories. We have so many insides jokes, and we make fun of each other all the time, I have some pretty mean impression of some of the girls. Every year we travel down the St. Louis for the Scott Gallagher tournament and every year that tournament gets better and better. This year we went to the Arch. While we were there, we played football with some college guys and rode scooters. Then we went to the Spaghetti Factory for a team dinner, and that was one of the best team dinners ever. None of us could stop laughing. We were making all these jokes and becoming friends with the waiter. After we had paid and were getting ready to leave, we cheered for our waiter. Moments like these I could live over and over again. When we go to someone’s hotel room and just talk, those are the nights to live for. We stay up past our curfew and just talk, we tell each other everything. We all know each other so well. They are the people who I go to if I have a problem or just had a bad day.

Our friendship and chemistry have brought us a long way on the soccer side of this too. We have won two State Cups and have been the Runner-ups once. We have represented Iowa at Regionals twice. Every year we keep improving by playing some amazing teams. We lost 2-0 to the National Champions and tied with an ECNL team. This team would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for our chemistry and how we play. We have been through so much together and I wouldn’t trade this team for any other team.

A few days ago I realized that I only have three more club seasons with these girls. That I will walk off the field one last time with this team, and that’s hard to think about. I have spent the last five years with these girls. I have learned so many things from this team, but one of the most important lessons I have learned is to cherish your time with those that mean the most. I wish I could start at the beginning again and relive everything with these girls again. So I ask you to cherish your time with those that mean the most because life goes fast don’t forget to stop and look around once in a while.
